The Albergaccio is an historical building, built just off-the Siena's city-walls in Middle Ages, used as a prison in time of the old Sienese Republic.Completely and nicely restored, respecting the original structure, it maintens since eight centuries the same name and the same matherials: here the same bricks, the irorn, the beamed ceilings on chestnut, the travertine-stone, the cotto-floors, are still the same from the medieval Siena.

Mentioned on many historical books along the centuries, before with the ancient name "l'Abbeggaccio" , nowadays l'Albergaccio, it still represents an important part of sienese culture and history.
The old building, before the complete restoration, guested in one of its parts the Virgili family, from '50es in last century. But only at end of 1900, started the full renovation: on the picture you can watch how it was before it.

The oldest part of the building guests three apartments, on three levels, until the medieval tower, where's a characteristic suite with a stunning view on surroundings. On the first floor, is the apartment la Fune: two rooms, one just an original cellar with an arch, a large living room and a bathroom with shower. On the second floor is la Trave, 80 squared metres with a large living-room, separate kitchen, two bedrooms and a bathroom with shower, all under a stunning mediaval beamed ceiling.

Located in the most representative part of the building, has been created the Bed & breakfast and the reception, a very large room with enourmous medieval arches that, at the beginnings of XX century guested a well-named dancing, actually trasferred in the modern building 200 metres far.A plate dated 1802 remember that this was also the site of "l'Union".

But the Albergaccio isn't finished here: at the back, the aparment La Sosta, with three rooms more, two bathroom and a large living room with another big arch, guests the room-rental, and, very soon, we'll open the last apartment, the newest la Prigione, lots of fields, a nice garden, 120 olive plants and much more.

All this, has been possible only thanks to my family and especially my father Leo, who restored by hands the entire building, avoiding that an important piece of sienese history could desappear.

The zone where's the Albergaccio is, is protected by low for its landscape: a cared country, without lots of building around, let the guests to enjoy a special stay, just off the historical city-walls.
